Read for a Better Life
On Wednesday, September 22, CISD kicked off our “Read for a Better Life” program! This is a great program that encourages reading everyday.
We had a few special visitors join us on this special day!
First, my dad came to read to the class! He read several books about dachshunds and other crazy dogs. He also told the kids how important reading is to him and that he reads ever morning!
Later that afternoon, one of the cheerleaders from The Woodlands High School read to us! She told us that she learned to read in Kindergarten and has been reading ever since!
Thank you, to our special guest readers!
Centers!
The K2 kids LOVE centers!
Once they finish their work jobs in the morning or in the afternoon, they know to check the centers board and head to their spot.
We have Alphabet center, Art center, Handwriting, playdough,
blocks, housekeeping, library and math centers open!
I love to watch them interact with each other during centers!
They are already learning so much from one another!
Community Helpers
We spent one whole week learning about different types of community helpers! One type of very important community helper is a nurse.
Miss Bates’ mom is a real nurse at St. Luke’s hospital and was nice enough to join us in Kindergarten for the afternoon!
She showed off all of the fancy tools she uses in her job each day.
She even let a few students try out her stethoscope!
Thank you, Mrs. Bates for coming to our class!

Group Work!
This week, we did group work for the first time!
I split everyone into groups of three and gave them a school rule to illustrate.
They had to cooperate and work together to decide the best picture to draw.
Then, as a group, they decided who would do what job to get the project done!
When the posters were complete, each group presented their work!
I was really impressed with how well they all worked together! I can’t wait to do more projects like this!
