Kindergarten Rodeo!

Oh, I love our Kindergarten Rodeo!

 DSCN2807

It is the best way to culminate our Social Studies unit on the great state of Texas!

Our cowboys and cowgirls came dressed in their finest attire!

Our actual rodeo began with our flag carriers, leading us to our circle.

Once we were in place, we said the Pledge of Allegiance, the Texas Pledge,

sang a few Texas songs,

100th Day of School!

We celebrated the 100th Day of School in style with a beach party in K2!!

DSCN2783

I love everything beachy!  This was a perfect excuse to break out the sunglasses, flip flops and beach towel in the middle of winter!

 DSCN2784 DSCN2786DSCN2787

We had a Read-a-Thon on our beach towels!  As a class, we read 100 books!

DSCN2793

One of my favorite 100 Day activities is the students drawing themselves now and in 100 years from now!

DSCN2788 DSCN2789 We talked a lot about what a 100 year old person might look like.  Their interpretations are too cute!!

I hope this is readable on the blog!  100 Days Ago, I didn’t know….

I cannot believe we are already flying past the 100th day of school!

Popsicle Party!

A few weeks ago (on a super sunny day), all of Kindergarten was awarded a Popsicle Party for turning in 90% of our Boosterthon Pledges!

Way to go, Kindergarten!!

Kyler Meets a Real Weatherman!

A few weeks ago, David Tillman (from ABC Channel 13) came to Galatas to speak to our fourth graders.  Little did he know we have an aspiring Storm Chaser in K2.  I arranged for Kyler to meet Mr. Tillman and impress him with all his knowledge of tornados and storms!

He spent time showing Kyler different radar shots, pictures of tornados and sharing wild weather stories with him.

Mr. Tillman was truly impressed with everything Kyler knew!

It was a particularly stormy day in Houston that morning.  Mr. Tillman showed Kyler an actual radar of Houston and where the potential tornados were.

It was a great experience for both of them!  Kyler made me so proud to be his teacher!
