Read for a Better Life!

CISD is promoting a culture of reading by calling to action all adults within the Conroe ISD community to devote at least 30 minutes a day to reading aloud to children.

One of my favorite times of the school day is when we are all on the floor and I get to read my favorite books to the kids!

Today, September 21, was the CISD Read for a Better Life Kickoff!

To help celebrate and encourage reading, we had a very special guest reader!

My dad came to read to us today!  He read two wonderful books and told us how much he loves to read!

I am so blessed to have a dad who is still involved in school with me and who loves to visit my class!  Thanks, dad!!

Celebrate Freedom!

In honor of September 11, this past week was "Celebrate Freedom" week at Galatas!
In Kindergarten, we learned about United States symbols, we memorized the Pledge of Allegiance and discussed about the importance of the American flag.
We ended the week by making these super cute Uncle Sam hats!
Aren't they awesome?
We are so blessed to live where we do! It is really great to teach these little guys all about our wonderful country!

We ventured to the Science Lab for the first time this afternoon!

We haven’t done an actual experiment yet, but we talked about what scientists do,

the correct way to behave in the science lab IMG_1000 IMG_1001

and what all the tools are for.IMG_1002 IMG_1003

We cannot wait to make more trips to the lab this year!

One of the students said, “There are so many cool things to learn about in here!”

Its an O Party!

This week we studied the letter O! To end our week, we enjoyed 'octopus stew,' read Nathan's Octopus book and created an octopus.
This was such a fun way to end the week!
A few K2 kiddos were a bit timid and said they were "allergic" to Octopus Stew!
A BIG Thank You to Amanda Burkett for making the stew for us!

K2 kids are showing off their octopus!

We are having such a great time in Kindergarten and we have only been together for three weeks!!

Our First Fuzzy Party!

What a GREAT class! They already filled our fuzzy jar and were rewarded with a Barefoot Afternoon!

Barefoot Day is one of my most favorite fuzzy parties! Its easy, cheap and makes the kids feel so cool when they can go places around Galatas in their socks!

I have had the specials teachers, our counselor, other Kindergarten teachers and even Mrs. Lindsay comment on how great K2 is!

I am so proud of how well everyone is learning the rules, making friends, working hard and learning everyday! Way to go, K2!!
