Camp Galatas – Day Three

Today started out with a measurement activity with partners!  K2 loves partner work, it always seems to make the project more exciting!

Everyone had a ‘foot’ and a list of things outside to measure.

They measured the width of the sidewalks,

the height of the fence and

the length of the picnic tables.

It sure was a hot morning, but they had fun and did a great job!

This afternoon, my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cigich, came to visit!

SDC16505

They brought hat costumes for everyone to act out the parts of the story!

It was so much fun!  Thanks, mom and dad, for being such awesome parent readers today!SDC16512

Before the day ended, we went on a bulletin board tour of the school.  Each class had a specific theme for their bulletin board for Camp Week.

The kids brought their clip boards and write down any new interesting things they learned.

I was so proud of them and how well they behaved in the hallways!

They acted like ‘real first graders!’

Camp Galatas – Day Two

Day two of “Camp Galatas” was just as fun as the first day!  We started the day with an ‘Awesome Animals’ presentation!  All of Kindergarten learned about different types of amphibians and reptiles!  We were even allowed to touch them!

Camp Galatas – Day One

Camp Galatas has been so much fun already!

This morning, we had a presentation from a ‘real scientist’ and learned all about Compasses.

 SDC16441 SDC16443

She taught us how a compass works and we even built our own!

SDC16444 SDC16445 SDC16446

Then we used a real compass on a search for a treasure!

SDC16449 SDC16450 SDC16451

The treasure map lead us all over the playground and through the woods!

SDC16452 SDC16453

We finally found the treasure, hanging high in a tree.

SDC16454 SDC16455

There was enough popcorn for the whole class in the backpack that we found!  What a fun surprise!

SDC16459

In the afternoon, we made real s’mores!

SDC16461

We used a ‘solar oven’ to bake them for an hour outside.

SDC16463

They were delicious!

SDC16466 SDC16467

We cannot wait to see what we will do and learn rest of camp week!
