This week, we have been learning all about Community Helpers! We have been talking about police men, firemen, teachers, doctors, nurses and mail men.
On Tuesday, we had a very special surprise guest! Officer Mac keeps Galatas safe, as well as other schools in our area. He was able to spend time with our class, Mrs. Garza’s class and Miss Bates’ class.
He read a great book called, “Officer Buckle and Gloria.” We all loved it!
After the book, Officer Mac showed us some of the important tools he uses everyday.
He even let us hold his badge!
It was really heavy! He told us that he wears about 13 pounds of equipment and gear everyday!

Then, on Thursday, Miss Bates’ mom came to Galatas to tell us all about her job! She is a Registered Nurse at St. Luke’s hospital in The Woodlands.
She showed us all the tools she uses as a nurse each day.
She even let some of us use her stethoscope to hear her heart beat. It was really nice of her to spend time with our classes for the afternoon!
Thank you, Mrs. Bates, for teaching us all about being a nurse! We loved it!
